Renowned Nigerian music artiste, Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has found himself spending a night in police custody due to his failure to fulfil the bail conditions set for his release. Portable's arrest stems from his refusal to settle a N14 million debt he incurred after purchasing a G-Wagon from a car dealer in Lagos State.

According to a reliable source, Portable was apprehended on
Tuesday, and bail conditions were subsequently established for his release.
However, the musician failed to meet these conditions, leading to his continued
detention.
The source disclosed that Portable initially paid N13 million for
the G-Wagon, which had a total price tag of N27 million. Despite the car
dealer's request for the outstanding N14 million balance, Portable refused to
comply, citing issues with the vehicle's condition as his reason for
non-payment. The car dealer, in turn, demanded the return of the vehicle, which
Portable also declined.
Confirming Portable's overnight stay in police custody, the state
Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, affirmed that the musician
remains detained due to his failure to provide a credible surety.
Meanwhile, viral videos depicting the arrest attempt on Portable
have circulated online, showcasing moments of tension between the musician and
law enforcement officers. In one video, Portable is seen attempting to evade
arrest, leading to a pursuit by police officers who eventually apprehend him.
Subsequent footage captures Portable resisting arrest as four officers struggle
to restrain him and transport him into a police vehicle.
The incident has elicited mixed reactions from the public. While
some individuals condemned Portable's resistance to arrest, others criticized
him for failing to honour his financial obligations, thereby tarnishing his
reputation.
Portable's predicament highlights the consequences of neglecting
financial responsibilities and the importance of adhering to contractual
agreements. As the situation unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the legal
repercussions that accompany debt default and underscores the necessity of
resolving disputes through lawful means.
Despite the controversy surrounding Portable's actions, the
incident underscores broader issues related to financial integrity and
accountability within the entertainment industry. As stakeholders continue to
monitor developments, Portable's case serves as a cautionary tale regarding the
importance of fulfilling financial obligations and upholding contractual
agreements in both personal and professional endeavours.
